Gabi trained as a clarinetist at Sydney Conservatorium, a vocalist at Perth’s Edith Cowan University, and an Actor at Adelaide’s ACArts.  A diverse vocalist and performer capable of singing a wide variety of styles - from jazz to opera, musical theatre to rock, traditional African folk to children’s songs. Gabi is a versatile vocalist and performer, bringing great emotional interpretation, feel and timing to all her work.

Her passion for African music began from an early age and her dream of visiting Africa became a reality when she travelled to Ghana in 2005. There she studied drumming and dance, fell in love with the country & the culture. She is the Director of ‘AFRICAN SOUL’ working alongside her husband Bortier as a drummer, dancer and singer, helping to bring African music and culture to Adelaide.

Gabi sings regularly with SA Opera and The Adelaide Vocal Project, children’s performance troupe, Ticklish Allsorts, and for The Borderers folk rock band. She is an instrumentalist, teacher, vocal coach, choir director and arranger.

Gabi is a specialist in contemporary opera and minimalist music and has performed as a featured vocalist for The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in Steve Reich’s ‘Tehilleem’ (filmed with Leigh Warren and Dancers for the ABC), Karl Jenkins’ ‘Imagines Oceans’, John Adams’ ‘Grand Pianola Music’,  the Phillip Glass Trilogy with the Leigh Warren Dancers- ‘Akhnaten’, ‘Einstein on the Beach’ and ‘Satyagraha’  and Astor Piazolla’s ‘Maria De Buenos Aires’. Some of Gabi’s other opera credits include performing for SA Opera’s ‘Writing to Vermeer’, ‘El Niño’, ‘Dead Man Walking’, ‘Le Grand Macabre’ to mention a few.

Gabi has also sung and performed alongside Kieth Michel, Rhonda Burchmore, Christine Anu, Peter Cousins, Rachel Bek, Frank Bennett and Josh Grobham and been a film score vocalist for the South Australian Film Corporation.
